SCF x English Aeropress Championships 2024
This years event was bought to you by … Assembly // Minor Figures // Brewed By Hand
Saturday night of the festival saw the return of the English Aeropress Champs to Sheffield and the incredible venue at Marmadukes, Cambridge Street. After the much discussed ballot and over 100 entrants, 24 people were sent the exclusive Assembly coffee to hone their recipe before they came to show off their brewing skills and plunge for the title. The event was hosted by the legend - Bryan Serwatka (Minor Figures) with Sheffields very own Aaron Ramsell as Head Judge/Chief Adjudicator/Quiz Master (if you know, you know!). With a playlist as good as the atmosphere, the Cambridge Street was packed out and saw the competitors compete in knock out style tournament over a number of rounds. The Judges table was busy with industry legends and some of the very biggest names in coffee and in the true spirit of Aeropress competitions they slurped and pointed to their top 3. After 4 rounds of boiling, stirring and plunging Ricardo Gandara from Kickback Coffee was crowned English Champion! Thanks to everyone who came down to Marmadukes to support and make it a very special event - last but not least, very best of luck to Ricardo who now travels to Lisbon to compete in the World Finals to see who will be crowned El Capitan.
